If there’s one thing the British wear best, it’s suiting. At London Fashion Week, showgoers wore suits in a variety of patterns — a refreshing panoply of color that looked similar to the street style we saw last week in New York. But with suits especially, and the effortless feeling their clean lines afford, the freedom to play with different personalities through a piece of clothing came from the fabric. For one person that meant looking punk, in an all-black suit lined with dark-blue fur. Another woman looked ready for spring in a red tartan suit jacket, denim shorts, and red Margiela tabi boots.
The London crowd also reminded us to stock up on fun coats and accessories — dangly, beaded red earrings, or a pair with the word “DOLL” encased in a big pink heart, plus colorful bags, sunglasses, and barrettes. And chunky sneakers are still a thing! People wore them in a multitude of colors and all-black. Other street-style lessons from the dapper British include investing in some nice leather boots or heels.
