Oppo launched the Reno series earlier this year in China. The Oppo Reno and Reno 10x Zoom made it to India in May touting premium design language and flagship specs. Oppo has had a strong presence in India and has shown a keen interest in bringing its latest technologies to the country. To that effect, it seems the next Oppo Reno smartphone will launch in India first before heading to other markets.
As per industry sources, the next Oppo Reno phone may have its global debut in India ahead of Diwali. The smartphone is expected to come with new and innovative features much like the shark fin pop-up camera on the Reno 10x Zoom. There is still no word on what the specs, design or price of this Oppo Reno successor will be, but we expect it to fall in the affordable premium segment.
To recall, the Oppo Reno and Reno 10x Zoom were launched in India priced at Rs 32,990 and Rs 39,990, respectively. The next Oppo Reno smartphone should fall in a similar price range to take on the likes of the OnePlus 7 series and Honor 20 series.
It is also being speculated that Oppo’s Hyderabad R&D center will be a key contributor in making the next Oppo Reno smartphone. In fact, it has been reported previously that the Hyderabad facility was responsible for developing the VOOC 3.0 fast charging tech that is featured in the Reno series as well as phones like the Realme 3 Pro and Realme X.
If the Oppo Reno successor indeed launches ahead of Diwali, we may be looking at an October launch timeline for the smartphone. Oppo will likely start teasing the device in the weeks leading up to its launch in India. It was recently reported that Oppo plans to launch 5-6 phones in Indiaahead of Diwali, and it seems the Reno succossor will be one of them.
